Treat Boy is a game where the player goes through an adventure with a dog to collect treats. My project addresses the relationship pets and owners have that improve both of their lives. I came up with my idea by trying to integrate other concepts that would not normally go together. It was also inspired by my brother who has recently been isolating himself and I wondered if getting a pet would help him when we can not be there for him. If I were given more time I would add more story and levels so the player would learn more about the topic.
Emoti-Con 2020 has ended and leaving new reactions is now off.
Hi Kelly, thank you for your submission. This is fantastic visual work! Very smooth, beautiful, enjoyabIt reminds me of one of my favorite iOS games Alto's Adventures.
Thank you Kelly for building on a topic that isn't immediately obvious as a social issue β ie: therapy and / or service animals β but is something that many people utilize everyday to help them with everyday life. I found your presentation to be very engaging, especially all of the documented process for your art style. As a graphic designer, it's always wonderful to see someone ideate and then bring their idea to life. While you mentioned in your video the game could be expanded on and didn't have that "coolness" factor you'd hope it would, I'd argue it was VERY cool! And I think if you spend more time on it β adding a title page to start the game, an intro sequence to explain your social issue, more movement for your sprites, sound, AND even cut-scenes between your dog and your human interacting in ways that emulate true therapy and / or service animal dog interaction β you could really have a wonderful product here. Way to go β keep on building!!!
Dear Kelly, thank you so much for taking the time to make a project for Emoti-Con! This game is absolutely amazing! Super cute characters and beautiful backgrounds. Super relaxing game to play that addresses an important topic. I think this just became my new favorite game!
I loved the artwork and sprites. I would have like to learn more about hte connection between the pets and owners. The game was really fun to play and the controls were easy to use
Hi Kelly, Thanks for submitting your project to Emoti-Con!! Hands down - Very impressed with your game. I went ahead and completed your game. All the visuals - backgrounds and sprites clearly had a lot of work put into it - from concept art to product. I also found the following dog a nice touch that fit well with the theme of the project. For a future version of this game, I would love to see some animation frames for the character - either a walk cycle or jump animation. I also think that the motivation behind this game is great. It can make a difference for those who need a companion. Keep up the great work here whether it be here or in other game projects. Thank you for submitting your project. I think it can inspire those who look at it :) -Charlie
I like how the game shows the relationship with humans and animals and how they help each other but I think that the person who created this should try making the extra levels that were originally supposed to be in the game to make it even more challenging and fun.
Kelly Your game has a simple premise, but the levels have enough difficulty to keep you going!!! Great Job!!!!!
