This game is made to help demonstrate a realistic way of dealing with the pollution caused by smoking and vaping, convincing the population to stop won't be easy so it is better to adapt by finding a way to lesser the impact and find ways to recycle the hazardous material
Emoti-Con 2020 has ended and leaving new reactions is now off.
Hi there! The concept of smoking and vaping as a topic for games with impact is a strong one. I am very glad that you attempted to address this issue. At first, I had a hard time figuring out what to do as there weren't any clear instructions, but once I did figure it out, I had fun using old school pong mechanics to try and get the sprite into the trash can. I feel that if given more time, it would be a really good idea to include some more information about your topic and about the impact that you are trying to make.
The pitch and social impact thrown forward by this project are great. The game itself does need instructions to be built into it. I was able to play the game and figure out that pressing space bar starts it and that at the top right is the number of lives remaining. The object of the game isn't too clear as the vape/cigarette just bounces off of the trash can but nothing else really happens. Maybe try implementing a arcade style scoring system? I really like where this idea is headed!
I am so impressed that this project immediately calls out risk-minimization! You all are way ahead of the game. Knowing that minimizing risk is more effective than trying to stop a behavior entirely is a valuable skill to have—I’m sure you’ve noticed leaders talk about this theory in relation to the current pandemic, but it’s also been effective at combating the AIDS crisis and the Opioid Epidemic. I’m definitely seeing some design potential here—are you interested in UX Design or Front-End engineering? I’d love to see a video about how your game works and maybe a few more images of each stage of the game, but this is a great start!
I love the aesthetics of the game; the simple illustration and earthy tones makes it really friendly and approachable. However, I couldn't figure out how to play the game :\
I am impressed with your code for this game. Great use of functions to keep the code easy and readable. One thing that would have made the game a little easier to use would have been to have a help button or some sort of page with instructions on what buttons to press to play the game.
