The challenge that we decided to take on was getting information about colleges available to juniors who are planning to apply to college soon. With the recently pandemic, universities are close and college visits are limited to virtual tours. Our website The College Times has information about COVID-19 as well as including websites to where prospective students can click on a link and be taken to the school's virtual tour.
Since all of us are highschool students, and many of us are getting close to applying for college, it is crucial that we get the information we need for them. We first had thought about making a website specifically regarding Covid-19, however, we felt that the website would become obsolete once this situation has passed. Thus, we changed our minds and chose to focus on something that would concern a majority of highschool students. We discussed and agreed on certain topics that we wanted to include in our website.
The College Times includes a select number of topics ranging from information about COVID-19 to information about specific colleges. Students who are interested in the website are greeted to the cover where they can view and select a topic, where they will be further greeted with links ranging from the college page or accurate news sources.
We have a link to our site, a video tour and some screenshots
Emoti-Con 2020 has ended and leaving new reactions is now off.
This is a very relevant resource! The website is thoughtful and it's clear you thought about what students would need most at this time. It was easy to navigate and find information. If you choose to continue with this, keep that up!
This addresses a real immediate need. I can tell that you did a lot of thinking about what kind of project would make an impact right now in today's world and you should be really proud of this work. I don't know anyone who is graduating from high school right now but if I did I would share this with that person immediately.
If I were applying to colleges right now, I would love a a resource like this. It shows your passion for helping others and that's always a good way of thinking when starting a project: how can I help others. Also your demo video was a great addition to the presentation. In the demo video, I would have loved to learn more about what technologies you used within the Glitch platform and how they contributed to your final product. Also, in demo videos, it's often great to hear about the challenges you faced in designing this project, and how you overcame them. When I work with software engineers in my job at Fullstack Academy, we always tell our engineers to explain their challenges because that shows potential employers that they are focused on success and want to work to solve their challenges!
You guys put so much great thought and research into this. I am so impressed with how much you were able to accomplish! You guys are amazing!
I love your project!
